On Friday evening, September 30, 2022, both Espergærde and Helsingør will be bustling with activity. Shops, businesses, and cultural institutions will be open. Both cities are brimming with activities, and as if that weren’t enough, Elsinore 2032, in collaboration with our member companies, is hosting a series of events featuring artists, authors, musicians, and politicians—all with free admission.

HAN is turning 10 – join Michael Elmgreen for a conversation about gender and art

It resonated not just in the empty shipyard halls, but throughout all of Elsinore when the artist duo Dragsted & Elmgreen created the artwork HAN ten years ago. The debate in *Dagbladet* turned the city’s collective consciousness upside down and exposed homophobic undercurrents. But as only art can do at its best, HAN ushered in a new era for Helsingør as a cultural metropolis. Meet one of the artists, Michael Elmgreen, and editor-in-chief Josephine Vedel in a conversation about gender and art, ten years after HAN came to the city.

Meet Stine Askov and share your book recommendations at the local bookstore – Rumhelt performs live

The bookstore in Helsingør serves as a key focal point in the 2022 novel *Nøjsomhed*. The book’s protagonist attaches yellow slips of paper with brief reviews to the spines of books in the store, creating something of a cult following among customers. Join Stine Askov in conversation with Aslak Gottlieb and place your own yellow notes on the spines of books at Bog & Idé. The local cult band, Rumhelt, will perform live, and Wines of Languedoc will offer a glass of wine.

Foam Splashes Between the Lines – An Interview with Author Carsten Jensen

The sea and seafaring play a crucial role in Carsten Jensen’s roman à clef *We, the Drowning*. The story is set in Marstal, where Carsten Jensen was born and spent half of his childhood. Drawing on the work, we’ll discuss the mythological significance of shipping in a port town and how it has inspired great literary narratives in general. Aslak Gottlieb will host and moderate the session, giving you, the audience, the opportunity to participate.

After the talk, there will be an open house where company employees will give tours and share the stories behind the many ship models on display. Using state-of-the-art virtual reality equipment, you’ll have the opportunity to take a simulated tour of an Australian research icebreaker or see just how high up they dare to go aboard the world’s largest wind turbine installation vessel.

There will be screenings of films and 3D animations showcasing our company’s latest projects and new buildings. Finally, visitors will have the opportunity to revisit films and parts of the exhibition from the Maritime Museum about the polar ship Nella Dan.

TIME: 7:00 PM
LOCATION: KNUD E. HANSEN, CLAESSENSVEJ 1

What Does Culture Mean to a Fish? – A panel discussion on cultural policy with local candidates for the Danish Parliament

Helsingør is known as one of the municipalities in the country that spends the most on culture. But what do our members of Parliament actually think about this? What does culture mean to them? Why should the government invest in culture? Who should benefit from these investments? And what do they think about Helsingør applying to become the European Capital of Culture in 2032? The debate will be moderated by Palle Høj, editor-in-chief of Frederiksborg Amts Avis, who will also give the audience the opportunity to participate and engage in direct dialogue with the local parliamentary candidates Birgitte Bergman (K), Kari Jørgensen (V), Henrik Møller (S), and Christian Holm Donatzky (R)
