Come meet Jonas Eriksson, whose new book is out, in a chat with Aslak Gottlieb!
TIME: Thursday, April 20, 2023, from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM, followed by a reception and tour
LOCATION: KNUD E. HANSEN. Hansen, Claessensvej 1, Helsingør
“The Way Home” is Jonas Eriksson's first novel. It came out in February, and the author is already visiting Helsingør! The book tells the story of a young man in the 1700s who suddenly and unexpectedly finds himself on a sea journey to the Danish Gold Coast.
Politiken
Jonas Eriksson is no stranger to life at sea, thanks to his own upbringing. He shared with Frederiksborg Amts Avis how one particular sea journey completely changed his life. As a young boy, he wasn't doing well at the Godhavn institution, but when some adults took him out to sea, everything turned around for him.
Building on the novel, the author talk will explore how life at sea shapes people and impacts their personal growth. Local debater Aslak Gottlieb, who's also the chairman of Elsinore 2032, will use his experience as a keen writer to interview Jonas Eriksson.
Back when Denmark was one of the world's top slave exporters.
Jyllands-Posten
After the talk, KNUD E. HANSEN will host a reception with light refreshments and a tour of their headquarters, where you can experience naval engineering art in virtual reality, among other things.
Jonas Eriksson will be signing books, which you can buy at a special price on the day. The event is free for members of HAL 16 and Elsinore 2032. Everyone else pays 100 DKK at the door, but you do need to register. We have 75 spots available, and they'll be given out on a first-come, first-served basis.
