For decades, Niels Lan Doky has worked across cultures and genre boundaries to promote the power of jazz as a universal language. “Jazz is a collective and interactive art form, but the music is just a language—not the story itself. We use the language to tell the stories—and to communicate. That’s why you could say that every conversation is a form of jazz. Jazz is the language of freedom and collaboration, and life itself is the ultimate improvisation,” explains Niels Lan Doky about the background for the lecture-concert.
